11. Responsabilitat.
Responsabilidades globales e injusticias estructurales.
Iris Marion Young analyzes on political responsibility make us think about the consequences of our actions and how they affect other subjects at transnational processes. This article presents a reading of Young's proposal, comparing it with the idea of collective responsibility in Hannah Arendt. Both authors put responsibility into the field of collective action against injustice, separating it from the notion of guilt and intentionality. This paper analyzes the possibilities of connection-based responsibility to evaluate processes of social structural injustices in our societies
Womenâs Rights, Peace, and Democracy: A Problematic Relationship
This paper analyses the reformulations of citizenship, positive peace and democracyâ of both contemporary feminist theory and the feminist movement. âIn doing so, it will explain the interrelationship between the feminist movementâ as a democratic movement and its proposals for reformulating conceptsâ and ideas that make up what we can call the âgrammar of politicsâ. Following âSeyla Benhabib, the âdemocratic iterationsâ that have been achieved in the âframework of human rights will be presented, giving some examples at nationalâ and international levels. Finally, the changes and challenges in womenâsâ demands for rights in current scenarios will be analysed.
Study of micro-illumination techniques with optical fibers and its application in diagnostic methods
The scope of the project is to characterize the illumination in our specific system, although possibilities extend to be able to measure any effect that light produces (optical, acoustic or electric effect) not only used to illuminate but also to excite (increasing the chances not only to diagnosis but also to the therapy, as previously mentioned).
The working place provided for the development of the project was perfectly suitable in order to overcome the physical part of the analysis. Since the first objective for the development of the measuring system was not the analysis of biological tissues and emulsions but the analysis of metallic (opaque) surfaces, the laboratory was not prepared for biological studies and sample preparations. Due to the lack of time and the difficulties to maintain the samples in a good state, selected tissues and turbid media were simple, easy to handle, prepare and maintain. For this first phase of the study, characterization was done in a controlled media. As a next stage this would be applied to more complex tissues.IngenierĂa BiomĂ©dic
Global vs. Local Heating in Magnetic Nanoparticle Hyperthermia
This thesis studies how the efficacy and safety of magnetic nanoparticle hyperthermia (MNH) are affected by variations in local (individual particle level) heat caused by polydispersity in size and anisotropy and the link between local and global (entire system) heat. This is done by using a Metropolis Monte Carlo computational technique. MNH is a new medical technique whose aim is to destroy cancer cells, which is achieved by introducing magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) into the tumor and heating them up to 45ÂșC by applying an alternating magnetic field. The motivation for this thesis arises from two sets of experiments: ones reporting cell death without having a global macroscopic temperature variation and others showing huge temperature gradients in the particle surface rapidly vanishing from it a few nanometers away. These observations go against some commonly presumed ideas about efficacy conditions in MNH and suggest the relevance of investigating local heat
The CLIL context in Primary School : discovering the world through English
Treball Final de MĂ ster Universitari en Ensenyament i AdquisiciĂł de la Llengua Anglesa en Contextos MultilingĂŒes (Pla de 2013). Codi: SAY031. Curs: 2014/2015As we all know nowadays, English learning is one of the fundamental goals in the Spanish
educative system, since it is the language of the world and most of the contents and information we
receive every day are in that language. Therefore, knowing English gives you many advantages,
including the possibility to access new points of view, information sources or to communicate with
people around the world, as well as many others.
As a consequence, it seems that we are all obsessed with this matter: parents, politicians, schools;
looking for the best method to make our kids sound like native speakers. Perhaps here starts our
erroneous conception of English teaching, given that we expect our kids to reach a level which is
hardly achievable. Hence, the poor English level that Spanish people following these programs have
obtained in the last few years.
Fortunately it seems that things are beginning to change and many new methods are more focused
on a communicative approach (English as a tool and not as an end), such as the Context and
Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), created by David Marsh in 1994 (Marsh, Maljers and
Hartiala, 2001), which is in vogue now.
At this point, I would like to comment that my teaching proposal will follow this method, since in
my Practicum I could observe and take part in some subjects that used it (Social Science, Natural
Science, Arts and Crafts) and I found it very useful for children to know the world around them but
also to learn English, as long as they are not worried about making mistakes when speaking or
